Position Summary
The Account Lead serves as the responsible leader for an account of projects within JSI’s U.S. Division. Acting as the critical bridge between JSI’s strategic vision and project-level execution, this role owns the end-to-end success of existing contracts to ensure high-quality delivery, sustained client satisfaction, and organic growth.
The Account Lead is responsible for the financial performance of their assigned account, including annual budgets, contract growth, and successful recompetes. By identifying opportunities for new task orders and costed extensions to expand JSI’s footprint, the Account Lead ensures that all projects meet financial and delivery targets.
The Account Lead collaborates closely with Project Directors/Technical Leads and other Divisions and Central Service teams. This role reports directly to a Vice President, Federal or State & Local, and may supervise a team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own the financial health and performance for a specific account, ensuring each contract meets or exceeds targeted direct cost goals.

Conduct regular budget-to-actual reviews to identify and resolve financial risks, such as under-utilization or over-burn, before they impact account health.
- Work alongside Project Directors to manage direct costs and staffing tiers, maintaining targets while delivering high-value outcomes.
Thought & Strategy
- Proactively identify and capture "on-contract" growth opportunities, including supplemental funding, costed extensions, and new task orders.
- Lead the strategy and execution of account recompete efforts, retaining core business through competitive cost and technical narratives.
Results & Execution
- Oversee the project lifecycle to ensure deliverables consistently meet JSI’s standards of excellence and comply with FAR or State regulatory requirements.

Manage staff assignments across the portfolio to ensure optimal billability and resource alignment with technical needs.
- Monitor program implementation performance and leverage client feedback to drive ongoing project improvements.
People & Influence
- Serve as the primary executive point of contact for client contracting officers and technical representatives, establishing JSI as the "partner of choice".

Partner with Business Development, Finance, Contracts & Compliance, and People & Culture teams to ensure seamless contract mobilization and compliance.

Facilitate the sharing of innovations and best practices across projects within the account to improve overall efficiency and impact.
- Direct and develop a multidisciplinary team of senior leaders, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and professional growth in accordance with JSI policies and procedures.
Expertise & Growth
- Build strong rapport with state-level or government clients by successfully translating complex needs into actionable service offerings.
- Apply a deep understanding of state-level public health or education policy, funding mechanisms, and operational realities to guide effective project execution.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in a related field, e.g., MBA, MPH, MPP, or M.Ed. is required or equivalent experience.

15+ years of relevant progressive experience with government contracting, with at least 5 years of relevant leadership experience, including financial/account oversight.

Proven experience managing project-level budgets, with a strong understanding of financial management.

Demonstrated track record of winning recompetes, securing costed extensions, and expanding an account -based structure.

Existing relationships in key customer segments, such as state health or education departments or Medicaid programs, paired with experience working closely with state public health agencies.

Proficiency in resource planning tools and the ability to effectively manage team utilization within a professional services environment.
- Strong multicultural communication skills and an ability to work effectively and mentor in a matrixed environment.
Language
- Fluent oral and written English communication skills.
Travel expectation
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically, as necessary (50%).
Work environment
- Mostly operate a computer.
- Ability to maintain a comfortable and ergonomic posture while working.
